Enjoy all that the immediate locality has to offer.  Drive to Cashel (15 mins) and soak up the rich heritage of the world famous Rock of Cashel.  Early lunch/snack in Café Hans, at the foot of the Rock.

Continue on to Cahir. Visit Cahir Castle and join one of the tours.  A fabulous experience.  Then enjoy a walk by the River Suir from Cahir Castle to the Swiss Cottage.  Again steeped in history and so pretty.  Possibly time to have a drink or snack after such exercise,  back  in Cahir overlooking the famous Castle,  scene of the famous movie Excalibur.

Mitchelstown Caves are just 15 mins from Cahir,  remarkable.

Finish this wonderful day by returning thru’ the Glen of Aherlow,  enjoying stunning scenery to the backdrop of the Majestic Galtee Mountains.  Stop off in a local pub for a pint before returning to Bansha Castle.

The Historic City of Kilkenny

Drive to Kilkenny City (1hr) and enjoy a full day here.  Kilkenny Castle is a ‘must see’.   Afterwards spend some time in the Kilkenny Design Centre and St.Canice’s Cathedral

Kilkenny is full of interesting little shops and crafts and also wonderful cafés and restaurants. So indulge in a little retail therapy and great food.

The Famous Vee Drive and Waterford

Travel to Cahir and on to Clogheen. Over the famous Vee drive.  Beautiful.  Drop into the Cistercian monastery in Mount Melleray.  Then on to the beautiful town and Castle in Lismore.  From here travel to Dungarvan and into some of the fabulous Gold Coast beaches before continuing on to the Waterford Crystal Experience in Waterford City.  If you have time on the way back to Bansha Castle drop into the Ormonde Manor House in Carrick on Suir.  A few miles outside Carrick, on your way home, you will come across Dove Hill – more retail therapy.

The Capital City – Dublin

Dublin is a great day trip too. Never mind the hassle of taking your car…why not travel by train. The train station is only 15 mins from Bansha Castle. Trains run hourly and only take 90 mins. There is plenty to see and do in Dublin including a visit to the Zoo and the Phoenix Park, Christ Church Cathedral, Museums, Guinness Storehouse, Book of Kells, Wax Museum and much, much more
